Vayne Abilities

Abilities:

Night Hunter (Passive): Vayne ruthlessly hunts evil-doers. She gains bonus Movement Speed when moving toward nearby enemy champions.

This passive makes Vayne an amazing chaser, almost impossible to get away from. Vayne is great for skirmishes and early + mid game fights because Vayne can chase better than most any champion.

Tumble: Vayne tumbles, maneuvering to carefully place her next shot. She rolls toward the cursor and her next attack deals bonus damage.

Great for going through walls and chasing or getting away. This makes Vayne very, very, very maneuvarable especially when you add in her passive and ultimate run speed boost.

Silver Bolts: Vayne tips her bolts with a rare metal, toxic to evil things. The third consecutive attack or ability against the same target deals a percentage of the target's maximum Health as bonus true damage. (Max damage vs. Monsters is capped)

Silver Bolts makes Vaynes auto-attacks hit very hard for true damage. Building attack speed is very viable due to this for Vayne.

Condemn: Vayne draws a heavy crossbow from her back, and fires a huge bolt at her target, dealing damage and knocking them back. If they collide with terrain, they are impaled, dealing bonus damage and stunning them.

Awesome, awesome ability! This Vayne crossbow shot is like Poppy's charge except she doesn't charge with it - but if you hit them into terrain, they get stunned and take massive damage.

Final Hour (Ultimate): Readying herself for an epic confrontation, Vayne gains increased Attack Damage, stealth during Tumble, and quadruple the bonus Movement Speed from Night Hunter.

The ultimate makes Vayne do massive damage and amazing run speed when chasing champions. The stealth during Tumble is also sick! Just watch out for Oracles (lol)

Vayne Masteries and Runes

Vayne is a ranged attack damage champion so use the standard ranged attack damage carry build for masteries and runes.

Vayne Masteries:

21/0/9 offensive masteries is the best, but you can also use 9/0/21 for utility if you want cooldowns and mp5 or 0/21/9 if you want to be more tanky for laning and get the extra health regen.

Vayne Runes:

Reds: Armor Penetration

Yellows: Mana Regen Per 5, Scaling Health Per 5, or Health Regen Per 5

Blues: Mana Regen Per 5, or CDR (Cooldown Reduction)

Quintessences (Quints): Armor Penetration or Flat Health

Vayne Summoner Spells

Vayne should get the standard ranged attack damage summoner spells: Ghost andFlash

If you want, you can also go with a slightly weaker summoner spell combination with Vayne such as:

Ghost and Ignite

Ghost and Exhaust

Flash and Ignite

Flash and Exhaust

Vayne Build Guide

Vayne is a kick-ass ranged carry. Her items make or break her so make sure you get the right items. Her spells scale very well with attack damage so focus on maximizing AD.

Vayne Items Build Order:

Start with: Doran's Shield, Doran's Blade or Boots and 3 health potions

Zeal > Phantom Dancer

BF Sword > Infinity Edge

Mercury's Treads (if enemy has lots of CC and slows) or Berserkers Greaves if not.

Last Whisper

Banshee's Veil

Bloodthirster

Phantom Dancer

Starting with a Phantom Dancer works extremely well. Vayne really shines in chases and the extra move speed makes her ungodly. Your enemies will never get away muahahahah! You may want to get Bloodthirster first instead of IE or a phantom dancer earlier, but make sure you get the high AD item ASAP. Last Whisper is only necessary if the enemies are stacking armor or in a long game (where everyone will have armor anyway).

Advanced Vayne Strategies and Tactics

Vayne is a kick-ass carry. Here are some advanced strategies and tips to help you maximize her effectiveness in 1v1 fights and team fights.

How to Lane with Vayne

Laning with Vayne is pretty simple. Max Q (Tumble) so that you can do some nice harassing and burst. You should be able to outharass any champion if you're good by tumbling and shooting them. If they charge on you just condemn them away and shoot them when they try to run. If you're good at micro, laning with Vayne is really easy.

How to use Vayne in 1v1's.

Vayne is very strong 1v1. The key is to get them in position to impale them with Condemn into a wall so they get stunned and take bonus damage. You can always Tumble to get in position to stun them. Make sure you hit it right or you won't be able to burst them down. Once you have your Ultimate, you should be able to chase down any champion 1v1 and kill them.

How to use Vayne in Team Fights.

Vayne is very strong in Team Fights, especially when chasing. Make sure you impale them with condemn into terrain to stun them. Then just auto-attack and destroy. If they focus you, tumble away with your ult active and you should be fine. Just auto-attack squishies like you would with any other physical carry. Remember, you always have increased move speed when running TOWARDS enemy champions, not when running away. So if you can, try to run back and forth between enemies in big team fights to keep your run speed high.

Tower Diving / Tower Kills

Vayne is a very good Tower Diver, especially in laning phase. When your opponent runs back to the turret, condemn them into the turret. If they're still alive, run into turret range and shoot them, then tumble out of turret range. Obviously, they have to be a bit low on health before Vayne can dive them. If they're about 50% or below, you should be able to tower dive them if you hit condemn into the turret. Vayne is pretty sick, huh?
