Brand Guide League of Legends

Brand is going to be a very fun champion to play. Brand is a very powerful spell caster and nuker with great single-target and AOE damage as well as a useful little stun.

Brand is a Brand New champion for League of Legends and is incredibly powerful. Learn how to play Brand like a pro! This guide is written by JuiceItUp (Currently around #60 on Solo Queue Ladder)

NOTE: Despite the rumors, Brand does not have a sunfire cape passive.

Brand's Abilities:

Sear: Brand launches a ball of fire forward that deals magic damage. If the target is ablaze, the target will be stunned.

Pillar of Flame: After a short delay, Brand creates a pillar of flame at a target area, dealing magic damage to enemy units with the area. Units that are ablaze take additional damage.

Conflagration: Brand conjures a powerful blast at his target, dealing magic damage to them. If the target is ablaze, the conflagration spreads to nearby enemies.

Pyroclasm (Ultimate): Brand unleashes a devastating torrent of fire, dealing damage each time it bounces. If a target is ablaze, Pyroclasm's missile speed increases.

Blaze (Passive): Brand's basic abilities light his targets ablaze, dealing a percentage of their maximum Health in magic damage per second.

Brand uses a pretty standard caster Mastery and Rune configuration.

Brand Runes:

Reds: Magic Pen

Yellows (Seals): Dodge (Jungling), Armor (Jungling), Scaling Health, or Mana Regen Per 5

Blues (Glyphs): Cooldown reduction (CDR), or MP5

Quintessences: Magic Pen, Health or Ability Power

Brand Masteries:

The normal 21/0/9 spec is great for burst damage. If you like the mana regen and reduces cooldowns, then go utility 9/0/21. If you want to be tanky and get extra AP, then go 9/21/0

If you're jungling, you can go the standard jungle spec 11/9/10, making sure to get 2 points into Utility Mastery to increase duration of lizard/golem buff.

Brand Summoner Spells:

Ghost/Ignite is the best summoner spell combination.

Obviously, if you're jungling you'll want smite and ghost or flash.

Brand is a strong AP caster and should be played as such. You can get a pretty standard caster build such as:

Doran's Ring

Boots > Spell Pen Boots

Rabadon's Deathcap

Catalyst > Rod of Ages

Rylai's Crystal Scepter

Banshee's Veil

Void Staff

Haunting Guise (optional) or Void Staff are also great for the magic penetration. Remember that Brand's passive does a 2% of the enemies' health per second for 4 seconds (using a normal spell combo it will do 8-10 seconds of damage, or 16%-20% minus the amount blocked by magic resists). This passive does NOT scale with AP but DOES scale with Magic Penetration, which is why a Void Staff and/or Haunting Guise work very well with Brand.

Just get AP as fast as possible and you should be doing massive burst damage with Brand. His passive (Ablaze) makes it easy to do burst damage and utilize the bonuses from each of his spells.

Always cast Brand's spells in combination for maximum effectiveness. The passive, Ablaze, gives each spell a bonus.

Single Target Damage:

When fighting a single target, for Maximum Damage, you actually want to use your ultimate first, then Conflagrate, Pillar of Flame and Sear (Make sure to hit the Sear Stun right after you cast Pillar of Flame but before it hits so that Sear procs the stun and another Ablaze which then procs the bonus damage for Pillar of Flame). By casting your spells in this order, it's impossible for them to dodge Pillar of Flame and you ensure each spell gets bonus damage and Conflagrate spreads to nearby enemies.

Multiple Target Damage:

When fighting multiple targets that are grouped up, cast Sear first, then Conflagrate to spread it to all nearby champions, following by Pyroclasm and Pillar of Flame. Spreading Conflagrate on top of Pillar of Flame and Pyroclasm deals massive, massive aoe damage and will likely win a team fight hands down if you hit 3 or more champions with it.

In a faraway place known as Lokfar there was a seafaring marauder called Kegan Rodhe. As was his people’s way, Kegan sailed far and wide with his fellows, stealing treasures from those unlucky enough to catch their attention. To some, he was a monster; to others, just a man. One night, as they sailed through the arctic waters, strange lights danced over the frozen wastes. There was something hypnotic about them; it was something that drew them to it like moths to a flame. Trekking across the frozen waste, they came to a cave covered in ancient runes. The meaning of the runes long lost to them, Kegan led the way inside. There, inside a perfect cage of ice floated a dancing column of flame. There was no way such a thing should be burning, especially not in this place.

OBSERVATION

The forest burns, blazing with the light of the sun. A lone figure stands amidst the conflagration, reveling in the blistering heat. It has been so long since he burned, so long since he watched the world fall to ashes under his power.

It is ecstasy.

He emerges from the flames. He can sense that nearby, over the next hill, there is life. People scramble, seeing the smoke from his inferno. Soon, they too will receive his gift of renewal.

“Stop, in the name of the Kingdom of Demacia!”

He turns. He is approached by a tall man in armor. The knight levels his sword, ready to strike if needs be. This man will soon discover that needs be.

The man is followed by blonde girl. Her armor has similarities to the man's. He can tell by her rod that she is a magician of some sort. He decides that she will have to be first...

“I am known by many names,” he replied. “But in this time, in your League of Legends, I believe Brand is fitting.”
